A patient who was sentenced for the murder of a 17-year-old man in Ilford has escaped from a mental health unit.
Lerone Michael Boye, 27, was sentenced in December to 28 years for the murder of Kelvin Chibueze, who was fatally stabbed inside Arteflex Club in High Road, Ilford, on August 15 2011.
Mr Chibueze was then chased outside and attacked with champagne and brandy bottles used as weapons, before being stabbed again shortly afterwards by two men near Ilford police station.
Mr Boye escaped from the John Howard Centre on Kenworthy Road, Homerton, at approximately 2.00pm and is described as a black man, 5ft 10ins tall, with a slim build and short black hair.
He has a horseshoe-shaped scar on his right cheek, a goatee beard and was last seen wearing grey jogging bottoms, a grey/blue sweatshirt and a grey vest.
The public are advised not to approach Boye but to call 999 if seen.
