The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has announced that Waltham Forest has been given priority status for the next three to five years.
Bids to the HLF to save local buildings and landmarks will get a higher level of support and will be more likely to get funding.
Sue Bowers, head of Heritage Lottery Fund London, said: “We have seen some fantastic projects coming forward from Waltham Forest in the past few years but the borough still receives a relatively small amount of funding compared with London as a whole.
“We are very keen to help more groups to apply for projects to be able to explore further and share Waltham Forest’s diverse heritage.”
