A designer is urging marathon runners to raise cash a children’s charity.

Tom Budden, who has secured a place in the 2014 London Marathon, has decided to run for the NSPCC.

Inspired by his grandmother, the 28-year-old is on a mission to convince other participants that it is the most worthwhile charity.

He said: “I decided to compete in honour of my late Nan who did a lot of fundraising for the NSPCC.

“For the past few years I’ve been a spectator and thought it was time I signed up to run for the NSPCC and support its great work.

“Current media revelations regarding child abuse highlight the need for services such as ChildLine, and it’s great to see their new campaign Now I Know, which aims to put ChildLine in every primary school to talk to children about abuse and how to protect themselves.”

Tom is one of 180 people who have already pledged to run next year’s London marathon for the NSPCC.

Any runners who have a place in the London Marathon on 13 April 2014 and would like to find out more about running for the NSPCC, should call the events team on 0844 892 1119.
