A psychology student is set to climb one of Britain’s highest mountains to raise money for people living in war-torn or poverty stricken areas of the world.
Luqman Waqar, 19, who attends Queen Mary University, will be part of a group of 30 which will hike to the summit of Mount Snowden in Wales.
The members of the university’s Islamic Society will raise money for charity Islamic Relief’s efforts to help orphans in Gaza and Syria.
Mr Waqar said: “The recent issues in Syria inspired me to take part in this challenge. It’s quite sad and it makes you think – what can you do to help?”
The challenge will take place on November 1 and 2.
