A gospel choir’s first music video has become an unexpected online hit.

The Royal Fountain Choir uploaded a clip last Monday of the 40-strong group singing their song ‘Possible’ and already nearly 11,000 people have viewed it on YouTube.

Mark Amadi, pastor of the choir’s Fountain of Peace Ministry in Staffa Road, Leyton, said he was extremely surprised at the interest the video had received.

“The popularity is hard to explain, but it blew my mind,” he said.

“All I know is that the song is very good – it’s catchy.”

He said even though it is a gospel song he thought the song was being enjoyed by Christians and non-Christians alike because people could draw inspiration and strength from it.

Worship leader and choirmaster David Olayemi agreed and said the popularity of the song, which runs for nearly 10 minutes, is due to its message – that anything is possible.

“I think it’s so popular because it shows and encourages hope,” the 37-year-old said.

He added that he was not surprised the song had been viewed so many times.

“I believe a lot of people want to listen to simple songs, and it’s very simple, but it was alarming to see such a lot of views in such a short period.”

The choir plans to produce an album of gospel music by the end of the year.
