Sixth form college students extended a winning sporting streak last week.
Leyton Sixth Form College retained their Inter College Festival of Sport winner’s trophy after a week of competition.
Represented in 11 different sports by 78 students, the Essex Road college's athletes faced off against nine other colleges from the Olympic host boroughs.
Going into the last day of competition trailing local rivals NewVic, a fine display from the men’s and women’s football teams saw the trophy prised from the grip of the Newham college.
Outstanding performances included Iron Man competitors and the mixed badminton team, both taking home gold medals.
Principal Kevin Watson said: “As a Sunderland supporter it is particularly gratifying at this point in time to be associated with some sporting triumpths through the college.”
