A day shelter working with 3,000 homeless people in Waltham Forest every year, needs public votes to get money to stay open.
The Greenleaf Trust 180 Project in Greenleaf Road, Walthamstow, has been providing hot food and showers to rough sleepers in Waltham Forest since 2009 but two years of funding has just run out.
They have been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank community fund which will award £3,000 to the two projects with the most public votes.
Projects coordinator, Leyroy Harley, who has been working voluntarily since their funding ran out, said if they did not get the money, they would stay open for as long as they could.
He said: “For us this project is too important to let it go. We would volunteer until we could no longer do so.”
The deadline for votes is November 1.
