A former school employee charged with stealing £40k over four years from dinner money and sports club fees will go on trial next year.
Linda Bird who was dismissed by Upshire Primary School in Waltham Abbey in 2011 had her first appearance in court yesterday.
The 51-year-old of St. Thomas's Close in Waltham Abbey, is accused of falsifying accounts by writing down that children had paid her less than they had, so that she can take the rest for herself.
She faces nine charges of theft and false accounting between 2008 and 2012.
Ms Bird will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on January 13. She has not yet indicated a plea.
