A teenager has been jailed for five years for raping a child.
Cameron Smith, 18, of Broadley Terrace in Waltham Abbey, was sentenced yesterday after being convicted of two counts of raping a 15-year-old girl, two counts of sexual assault, inciting a child into sexual activity and asault by penetration.
During his trial mobile phone recordings of his victim pleading with him to leave her alone were played to a jury.
Smith claimed he was "too stoned and suicidal" to carry out the attacks in Harlow between 2009 and 2011.
But he was convicted at Chelmsford Crown Court in September and sentenced yesterday.
