A prolific burglar who went on a month-long crime spree has been jailed after being traced by an iPad app.

Ion-Liviu Radita, 36, is believed to have stolen more than 100 items of jewellery, laptops, cash and mobile phones in May alone.

But when he stole an iPad from a home in Kent police were able to track him down to his home using an app on the tablet called 'Find My iPad'.

Radita, of Eynsford Road in Ilford, was jailed for seven years after being convicted of conspiracy to commit burglary at Maidstone Crown Court, yesterday.

Radita stole laptops, mobile phones, cash and jewellery and in each burglary, the jury was told.

He smashed the back doors of homes to gain entry and in two of the burglaries in Dartford he was found to have urinated on the bed.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Bill Looker of Kent Police, said: “Radita was calculated about the way he went about these burglaries. He knew what he was after, laptops, electronic devices and jewellery, which are items he knew he could move on quickly and make a quick buck.

“With the help of the ‘Find My iPhone’ app we were able to tie his location down to a small number of addresses.”
