Hard working volunteers are going full steam ahead with ensuring that the Epping Ongar Railway brings historic travel to life.
This week a new water crane was unveiled on the old stretch of the Central Line.
The new rotating equipment, similar to that used in the 1860s, can deliver large volumes of water needed by locomotives directly to the lines.
Previously, EOR's technical engineering team was tasked with providing the thousands of gallons of water that steam locos like ex-GWR No. 4141 need during a day's service on the six-mile railway.
DGR Mechanical Services based at Matching Green offered their support to the heritage railway project and shared their expertise with the installation.
Manager Simon Hanney said: “The EOR volunteer steam engine crews are delighted with the new facility and visitors can now enjoy the sight of locos refilling in the traditional way, without any risk of delay to their train.”
