A pumpkin weighing in at 15 stone and 12 pounds has won first prize at a Chingford allotment vegetable contest.
Chris Baldwin, 47, of Ashington Close, Chingford, started growing the enormous pumpkin four months ago at Beechwood Allotments, in Larkshall Road, Chingford.
Celebrating his birthday on Saturday, the day of the competition, Mr Baldwin said:
"I was chuffed to win first place, it was an emotional moment and I got to share it with my daughter, Lauren."
Mr Baldwin said that leading up to Saturday's contest, in which eight other vegetable-growers competed, there was "a lot of rivalry" within the allotment but "was all done in good faith."
