Alice in wonderland was brought to life in the latest event of a week-long heritage and arts festival.

Our Lopping festival at Lopping Hall, Loughton hosted a sold out screening of the fantasy tale complete with real life characters from the story.

Children entered the special auditorium through a rabbit hole and then enjoyed a Mad Hatter’s tea party before watching the film put on by Film Loughton.

Unusual party games were also put such as croquet with blow up flamingos and woollen balls and a game of snap with giant playing cards.

Vanessa Gayton, the dance development artist for the district council’s Community and Cultural Services Department was in character as the white rabbit.

She said: “It was the first family screening we’ve put on.

“It was a great event and it was lovely to see so many people of all ages here.”

The Our Lopping festival continues with other events during the week concluding next Saturday.
