90-year-old woman escapes flat fire
A 90-year-old woman escaped unharmed from a fire in her ground floor flat.
The fire started in the kitchen of the property in St Winifreds Close, Chigwell, but the occupant was able to escape before fire crews arrived at 3.20pm.
Firefighters from Loughton and Hainault wearing breathing apparatus took just under half an hour to tackle the fire and clear the flat of smoke.
