In this week’s crater crackdown I stumbled upon the largest recorded crater in the campaign to date.
The horrendous hole sits metres from the entrance to the Rectory Lane Health Centre in Rectory Lane, Loughton.
The pot-hole, which is over two metres in length and over a metre wide, also hampers access to the E15 Acting School and the Corbett Theatre.
The health centre receives patients by ambulance twice a week and the rut causes problems for drivers and patients alike.
Heavy goods vehicles use the road to access a site behind the centre and staff believe this has contributed to the deterioration of the tarmac.
Another site I visited was the junction of Alderton hill and Brook Road, Loughton, with a particularly dastardly dent slap bang in the middle of main road.
However, in better news, our campaign has had its third major success with the pothole on Epping New Road by the junction with Brook Road and Church Road being repaired yesterday.
It took 25 days to repair which sneaks in under the county council’s 28-day deadline for “non urgent” potholes.
Sadly the county council has failed to repair potholes in Stonnards Hill, Hemnall Street and Cottis Lane, all in Epping, which were reported back on October 7.
I shall find out why!
