A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder for the stabbing of a woman in Ilford.

The man, 20, was arrested last night over the death of Romanian national Mariana Popa, 24, on October 29.

Emergency services were alerted at 12.15am.

She was treated for a stab injury at the scene, but later died at the Royal London Hospital.

A post-mortem examination revealed she died due to shock and haemorrhage and stab wounds to the chest.

Police earlier this week released a CCTV image of a man they wanted to question in connection with the killing.
