A primary school in special measures has shown improvement under a new headteacher, according to Ofsted.
Thomas Gamuel Primary School in Colchester Road, Walthamstow, was heavily criticised following an inspection in April.
But a follow-up inspection last month, Ofsted found the school’s leadership, including headteacher Tom Mitchell, was taking action to tackle the problems.
Mr Mitchell was praised for bringing stability and a sense of direction to the school.
However, it was noted that the school should do more to engage more able pupils, particularly those showing talent in mathematics.
The school is expected to become an academy in March.
