An MP has congratulated councillors and residents following their victory in reducing a nightclub's opening hours.
Chingford and Woodford MP, Iain Duncan Smith has welcomed yesterday's efforts of a district judge at Barkingside Magistrates Court to uphold Redbridge Council's decision to reduce the opening hours of Funky Mojoe, in High Road, South Woodford.
Iain Duncan Smith told the Guardian: "I was delighted to hear that the Council's decision to limit Funky Mojoe's hours has been upheld.
"This is a great result for local residents who have had to put up with noise and anti-social behaviour as a result of this club for far too long.
"I congratualte the licensing team at Redbridge, who I know have worked very hard on this for a long time."
The South Woodford nightclub will now operate limited opening hours, closing at 11:30pm on weekends, compared to 2:30am and 11pm during the week.
Funky Mojoe can appeal to the High Court to overturn the judges decision, but will have to abide by the new opening hours for now.
The Guardian has so far been unable to contact Funky Mojoe for a response.
