Travellers have been moved on by police after a toal of 15 caravans were parked on Wanstead Flats yesterday.
Police confirmed they were alerted to the camp at 3.30pm on Wanstead Flats yesterday afternoon, on the football pitches in Capel Road and in Capel Road Car Park.
Police gave letters to the travellers asking them to leave, and they agreed, driving towards Ilford at approximately 5pm.
Wanstead Flats is owned by the City of London Corporation.
Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 gives police powers to ask groups to leave if they have more than six vehicles.
