NORTH Weald Airfield is to play a crucial role in the World Scout Jamboree which is being held at Hylands Park, near Chelmsford, in July.
Some 70,000 scouts from virtually every country in the world will be taking part in the event - the biggest youth festival ever staged in Great Britain.
The youngsters will all register at the former battle of Britain airfield before being taken to Hylands Park.
Epping Forest Council's leisure and young people portfolio holder Chris Whitbread said: "It's a huge logistic exercise which the infrastructure of North Weald Airfield can accommodate. We're pleased to be involved in such a prestigious and worthwhile event."
