BUDDHISTS, Hindus, Muslims, Christians and residents from many other faiths gathered together in Walthamstow for the annual faith fayre.
The diverse community of E17 celebrated together on Saturday (September 5) to show support for their neighbours, in Walthamstow Town Square.
Between the market traders and the rides there were displays and presentations from a variety of groups, sparking discussion among the crowd.
A Hindu member of the forum, Bhavanee Manogram, said: "With readings from the Quran, hymns, songs and recitals from the Hindus, Christians, Baha'i, and music with drums from the Hare Krishna group, all in all we had a very vibrant, uplifting and successful event."
Waltham Forest Mayor, Saima Mahmud, opened the event.
She said: "I have made the promotion of community cohesion a priority for my mayoral year.
“This was certainly an event where faith groups demonstrated that they share a common direction and sense of community.”
The Faith Forum recently elected Canon Steven Saxby to be its new Chairperson and more events for the year ahead are to be announced soon.
