A Woodford Green school welcomed MP West Streeting to speak as part of its LGBT week.
The MP for Ilford North visited Woodbridge High School on Tuesday to talk with students, who have spent the week showing their support for the LGBT community.
The talk was one of a number of events the school is holding this week, including workshops, film screenings and a pride festival.
Mr Streeting said: “It was brilliant to visit Woodbridge High School today and speak to students as part of their LGBT week.”
“Woodbridge is setting a high bar for other schools right across the country in celebrating diversity. I am very proud of the fact that such a brilliant initiative is taking place right here in our area.”
“The staff and students are a credit to their school for the fantastic work they are doing to tackle homophobic and transphobic bullying of young people.”
Staff at Woodbridge began wearing rainbow LGBT bracelets a week prior to the celebrations, to show solidarity with victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting, which claimed 49 lives earlier this month.
