A MAN removed a woman’s hijab from her head in a religiously motivated hate crime.
Police are searching for two men who targeted the victim, aged in her 20s, as she was walking along High Road, in Tottenham, on Wednesday, September 28.
The men approached the woman from behind as she crossed the road by The College of Haringey, Enfield & North East London, with her friend at around 7.30pm.
One of the men pulled down the hijab she was wearing before they both ran off towards Pelham Road, in Tottenham.
The victim was not injured but was shocked and distressed by the incident.
The first suspect is described as a white man, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, with blond or ginger shaved hair and stubble.
He was approximately 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a burgundy coloured hooded top and carrying a Tesco bag in his right hand.
The second suspect is aged in his late 20s or early 30s, clean shaven with spiky hair and was wearing a grey hooded top.
Officers are treating this as a hate crime as the victim continues to be supported by the police.
Detective constable Ben Cousin said: "This was a shocking attack in broad daylight in the middle of a busy street.
"Racially and religiously motivated crimes will not be tolerated."
