A DECAPITATED kitten found under a car in a residential street in Chingford is believed the latest victim of the so-called “M25 cat killer”.

The body of a black and white kitten, around four months old, was found by a teenage girl in Normanshire Drive, in Chingford, at 4.30pm on Wednesday (November 16).

The animal was beheaded with a “clean cut”, a trademark of the serial killer linked to almost 170 slaughtered cats.

Volunteers from charity South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL), who are assisting police and the RSPCA during the mass killings, took the body of the unchipped kitten to a vet.

Tony Jenkins, of SNARL, said the body bears all the hallmarks of the sadistic killer who has taken his murderous spree to Waltham Forest in recent months.

The poor kitten was found here, in Normanshire Drive, Chingford

No bite marks were found on the body, making it “unlikely” an animal killed the poor kitten.

Distraught owners usually find their dismembered pets on doorsteps, porches or back gardens, suggesting the kitten was dragged under the car by a fox.

This latest killing brings the borough’s total to four since a 17-year-old mog was found beheaded in its owner’s garden in Walthamstow on September 5.

It has been a year since the first cat was found with its head, tail and organs removed, callously placed back in the owner’s driveway in Croydon.

He was dubbed the “Croydon cat killer”, but 100 bodies later and up to six slain cats found each week, the brutal murderer has been renamed the M25 cat killer.

More and more attacks are happening across London and the south east, with reported incidents in Finchley, Tottenham, Stepney, as well as Birmingham and Manchester.

Mr Jenkins said: “There is a lot of cats around at this time of the year and I urge owners to keep them in at night.

“Keep your eyes open for any strange person looking at cats in the night.

“It may be the person we are looking for.”

“We are still trying to trace the owner of this poor kitten, so if you have lost one, please come forward.”

Mr Jenkins is warning cat owners near the Crooked Billet roundabout on the North Circular to stay vigilant as recent killings have been off the A112 Chingford Road.
