HOSPITAL workers will wear new brightly coloured staff name badge to help visually impaired patients
Barts Health NHS Trust launched its #BartsAbility project earlier this year to listen to the views of its disabled staff and patients at Whipps Cross Hospital, in Leytonstone.
After hearing about patients becoming anxious about finding it hard to read name badges, the solution was clear.
The Trust then produced the new bright yellow badges, with larger font than the traditional NHS name badge.
It claims it is also working on plans to improve wheelchair access in many of its hospitals.
Alan Gurney, Interim Managing Director at Whipps Cross Hospital, said: “A number of patients told us that they experienced anxiety because of difficulty reading name badges.
"So we spoke to experts and have developed a wonderful new name badge that is much easier to read. I am proud that this simple yet important change will improve the experience for our patients.”
