Children with serious illnesses and disabilities baked up a storm with a cake expert.

Haven House Children’s Hospice launched its new Big Tea Par-Tea campaign with an afternoon tea party for families who use the hospice on Saturday.

Cookery author Amy-Beth Ellice, from Essex, demonstrated the wonders of baking for the children, using her scrumptious cake designs that have shot her to fame.

Amy, who lives in Essex, has whipped up a storm in the culinary world in recent years with her scrumptious array of cake designs and her popular recipe book, Amy's Baking Year.

On Saturday 12 August, Amy baked cupcakes for families at Haven House and showed how the cakes could be decorated with a number of simple designs.

The Big Tea Par-Tea campaign is aiming to raise funds for the hospice by coming together for a cake, a cuppa and a catch up.

Amy-Beth said: “I’m delighted to be supporting the Big Tea Par-Tea. Haven House is an incredible charity which provides such amazing care for families. Baking is a brilliant way of raising funds for the hospice.”

Ginny Donnelly, Community Fundraiser at Haven House, said: “A Par-Tea is a brilliant way to help Haven House whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply having a get together.

“It really is your Tea Par-Tea, your way. However you choose to get involved and create memories with your loved ones, you will be helping the life-limited children and the families we care for to create precious memories of their own.

“As long as there are cakes on the table, tea in the pot and friends in the room you have everything that you need to host a Big Tea Par-Tea.”
