A mosque is opening its doors to the public for an open day in celebration of national Visit My Mosque Day.
South Woodford Mosque in Mulberry Way is inviting residents of all faiths and none to explore the mosque, beliefs and practices of Muslims on Sunday (February 3).
The organisers of the national event have worked in conjunction with mosques across the UK and aim to make people more familiar and comfortable with Islam.
The day will include tours, free refreshments, children's activities, henna and a chance to write your name in Arabic calligraphy.
Visitors will also be able to find out more about Islam and observe prayer in the mosque.
Mohammed Fahim chairman of South Woodford Mosque’s Qur’ani Murkuz Trust said: "We are delighted to be hosting this event. The Mosque does a lot for the community and it’s a great chance to let the local community visit. We look forward to giving our guests the chance to see for themselves what goes on in the mosque."
The open day will run from 12pm to 4pm at South Woodford Mosque at 14 Mulberry Way, E18 1ED.
