Two children have brushed up their broadcasting skills by showcasing their talents on a radio show.
Beatrice and Henry Affleck, aged nine and eleven, were invited to visit the East London radio recording studio last week.
The siblings created a recording for the show, with an introduction made by aspiring disc jockey Henry with a recording piece of write by Beatrice written by herself for the Talking Stories show.
Miss Affleck's stories and recordings have been previously featured on the show, however, she usually records her stories on a mobile phone and emails them to the recording studio.
Mum Lisa Affleck said: "They were both fascinated by the recording equipment, particularly the big microphones.
"Henry was very impressed to hear that his favourite Radio 1 DJ, Greg James, had visited the same studio and recorded a show for East London radio there.
"My son says he wants to be a Radio 1 DJ when he grows up, so Tony invited him to record an introduction for his sister.
"Beatrice first came to record for the show after submitting a piece of her creative writing to Tony Cranston when she was 9.
" She is quite confident at reading, so she recorded some further stories for him, and also some sound bites for the show, which he uses as fillers between other people’s stories.
"She is the show’s youngest contributor- most other stories are written and recorded by adults."
The latest story is a diary entry about an explorer who witnesses a giant spider eating an opossum and is based on a genuine news story.
The story is due to air in the Talking Stories episode on the last Saturday in May.
Radio station managing director Ian Chambers and storyteller Tony Cranston showed the siblings around the studio.
