Stables prepare for an open day on the bank holiday weekend.
Aldersbrook Riding Stables on Empress Avenue is due to hold a horse-filled fun day event on May 6 to celebrate the bank holiday weekend and raise money for the stables.
Events will include pony rides, horse anatomy lessons, a fancy dress parade, a bouncy castle, a treasure hunt, horse riding demonstrations, horse-ball demonstrations by members of British Team Dressage, jumping demonstrations and more.
The owner of riding school, Steven Kiley, has launched a crowdfunding campaign to save the riding school he purchased two years ago.
The crowdfunding platform has a target of £45,000 which is outlined to cover repairs such as replacing the barn roof, resurfacing the outdoor arena, installing a new fence around the paddock and refurbishing the toilet facilities.
Mr Kiley aims to raise funds to enable him to keep the stables running for the next 50 years.
He further maintains that the stables are an important asset for the community because to allows for people to meet, learn, work and have fun.
