A shopping centre is due to reopen next week following a large fire last month.
The fire at The Mall, Walthamstow, started in the early hours of Monday July 22.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the Mall’s team and Waltham Forest Council have thanked the community and London Fire Brigade for their support and hard work in the past few weeks.
Some businesses in the Mall have already begun trading again and the complex’s car park reopened last week.
The whole centre is set to reopen to the public on Wednesday, September 4, with only the food court and the stores around Boots, Asda and TK Maxx to remain shut while repair work continues.
Most outlets on the ground floor will then be open for business.
The centre’s Shopmobility service, which gives support to disabled shoppers, also remains closed at the moment, but it is hoped the service will resume as soon as possible.
In a statement published to the Mall’s website, a spokesperson for the management team said: “We continue to be appreciative of your co-operation and understanding throughout what has been a difficult time for us all. We thank you once again for your assistance in dealing with the aftermath of last month’s fire and the resultant inspections.
“We have now been able to reopen 10 of our retailers: Lidl, Pret, Gokyuzu, The Gym, Lloyds, Halifax, C&S Discount, Peacocks, Perfume Mania and H Samuel along with positioning temporary pods for Boots and Superdrug pharmacies on the town square.
“Today I am pleased to be able to tell you that we have agreed a date for the reopening of the centre. The Mall will reopen for trade on Wednesday September 4.
“With the centre reopened it will mean business as usual and as far as possible all normal services will resume. We would like to thank the community for their continued support and look forward to welcoming back both our retailers and customers.”
