Next is a 1939 view of St James Street, Walthamstow, courtesy of Vestry House Museum picture archive. The A.H.Edwards opticians shop looks fantastic. Next door, C.J.Smith is a 'commercial stationer'. Note Barclay's Bank and Sainsbury's in the background.
The same street in 2019 has plainer shop fronts, but there is still an opticians in the same premises.
