These two postcard photos have 60 years between them.
The first taken c1900 showing 'Holmdale', a house built in 1881 by local architect Edmond Egan (1840 – 1899) in which he lived.
The same view in the early 1960s shows the premises being occupied by Browns Garage since 1950.
To the centre is Lopping Hall also designed by Egan and opened in 1884. Pictures by Gary Stone - Instagram: @loughtonhistory
Next is a view of the Ridgeway in around 1948.
Chingford Town Hall on the left was built in the Baroque style and completed in 1929. It became the headquarters of the Municipal Borough of Chingford after it was awarded in 1938.
The town hall ceased to be the local seat of government when the enlarged London Borough of Waltham Forest was formed in 1965. After being found surplus to requirements, the whole site was sold to a developer in 2011.
