The rate of infection in Waltham Forest has surged in the last week and is now one of the worst in London.
In recent weeks the borough has seen a spike in infections.
In the seven days to December 4 – the latest accurate data – the district posted 821 new cases, at a rate of 293.2.
Between November 20 – 27 the rate of infection was as low as 209.4, the equivalent of 580 new infections in a week.
In the seven days to December 4 – the latest accurate data – the district posted 306 new cases, at a rate of 232.4.
Waltham Forest is now not far behind London’s worst affect borough, Redbridge.
In Harlow, the rate of infection has stabilised near the 300 mark..
In the seven days to December 4 there were 889 new lab-confirmed cases at a rate of 291.3, down from a rate of 302.4 (923 cases) the week prior.
Across England, a further 325 people, who tested positive for Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 42,904.
Of the latest deaths, patients were aged between 42 and 101 years old. All except 12 (aged 56 to 93 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
