More than a third of Covid patients dying in London are in east London hospitals, new data reveals.
East London hospitals confirmed 53 deaths from Covid last week, as well as 34 from previous weeks.
A total of 133 Covid patients died across the whole of London between December 7 and 13.
The hospitals in east London are run by Barts Health NHS Trust, which runs Whipps Cross and four others, and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT).

BHRUT runs King George Hospital in Ilford and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. Together the two hospitals confirmed 31 patients deaths during the week, compared to 22 at Barts’ five hospitals.
Cases in east London boroughs are continuing to rise. Redbridge and Havering both saw more than 300 residents test positive yesterday, while Waltham Forest saw more than 200.
On December 13, head of the Metropolitan Police Cressida Dick visited Ilford Lane in Redbridge to support the council in its efforts to better enforce lockdown.
The most recent accurate data, covering December 2 to December 9, shows the rate of infection in Redbridge was nearing 400 cases per 100,000 residents.
