Fire crews subdued a Leyton flat fire in under an hour.
Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters scrambled to the blaze at a flat in Leyton Green Road on Thursday, January 14.
A flat on the sixth floor of an eleven storey tower block was on fire when crews arrived at the scene.
Two people had escaped the flat before the brigade arrived. Part of a five-roomed was damaged by the fire but there were no reports of any injuries.
The brigade was called at 1.23pm and the fire was under control by 2.08pm.
Fire crews from Leyton, Leytonstone, Stratford, Woodford and Stoke Newington fire stations attended the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
