An east London state school has gotten more Oxbridge offers than Eton.
Students at Brampton Manor Academy in Newham have secured a record 55 offers from England’s two most prestigious universities, Oxford and Cambridge.
In comparison, pupils at Eton College, where Prime Minister Boris Johnson was schooled, secured 48 offers.
A spot at the Windsor boys’ school, which often boasts some of the most Oxbridge offers in the country, can cost almost £50,000 a year.
In a post on Twitter, a spokesperson from Brampton Manor said: “Massive congratulations to our class of 2021. Despite the covid pandemic, a record 55 students have shown resilience and determination to secure offers from two of the most prestigious universities in the world: Oxford and Cambridge. Well done.”

Brampton Manor set up its sixth form in 2012 in the hope of getting more disadvantaged pupils into leading institutions.
From 2015 to this year, state school intake has gone up from 62.3 per cent to 70 per cent at Cambridge and from 55.6 per cent to 68.7 per cent at Oxford.
