A man who forced a woman into a car and raped her has been jailed for ten years.

George Stoiean, 27, of no fixed address, was sentenced on Wednesday (May 19) after the attack at Ilford High Road earlier last year.

Police were called on November 25 last year after a woman, aged in her 20s, reported she was forced into a car by two men at around 3.30am and then raped.

The car pulled up beside her as she walked down Ilford High Road that morning, and the passenger got out of the car and followed her along the road.

She was forced into the car and was attacked by Stoiean, who was driving the car.

Metropolitan Police say she was driven a short distance away from the road before she was raped.

The woman was held down and repeatedly punched, injuring her face and body.

After she was dropped off a few streets away, she made her way to her friends house to raise the alarm.

Detectives launched an investigation to track down the men responsible and used CCTV, phone data and witness accounts to locate Stoiean, who was arrested in Lincolnshire on November 27 that year.

He pleaded guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on March 18 this year.

Detective Constable Claire Smith, of the East Area Public Protection Unit, said: "Stoiean has not shown any remorse for his actions and repeatedly lied to police about his involvement in the attack.

"The victim has shown incredible courage after suffering such a terrible ordeal and I hope this sentence brings her some comfort that Stoiean will serve a length custodial sentence before being released."
