A rise in Covid-19 hospital admissions in people in their 30s has sparked a drive to get thousands vaccinated this weekend.
Waltham Forest Council says the new variant is "of concern" and wants as many people as possible to book a slot.
It has made thousands of vaccination shots available at Walthamstow Library in High Street, Walthamstow.
The council has opened up online bookings, which are easier than booking on the phone or through a GP.
A council spokesperson said: “Getting vaccinated is incredibly important and we are working with local health partners to make sure residents can get their jabs as efficiently as possible.
“We are seeing a rise in unvaccinated adults in their 30s being admitted to hospital with the newest variant of concern. We need to get as many people as possible vaccinated as quickly as we can to prevent the virus spreading in our community.”
Appointments made at this link will remain available up to half an hour before they are due.
Those booking online will be allocated the most suitable vaccine for their cohort or age range. Residents will not be able to choose at the vaccination centre.
People can book ahead using this link http://bit.ly/WFLibraryVaccine or by calling 0208 496 3000.
