The photo above from 1923 shows Station Road and ‘The Parade’ in Chingford.
It was originally set out and built in the early 1880s as part of the Chingford Rise Estate development when Station Road was still known by locals as Maddox Lane.
This name dates back to at least 1790.
The buildings are virtually unchanged in 100 years except for the shop frontages.
