Waltham Forest binmen were “stranded for two hours” yesterday after a car was abandoned in the middle of a Leytonstone road.
The bin lorry was trapped on Woodriffe Road, just off Hainault Road, after a driver “decided to park in the middle of the road and walk off”.
The council posted a notice on Twitter warning that collections for residents in E10 “might be delayed” but that crews “are working hard to catch up”.
Footage shows a driver walking away from their car at 8.21am and what appears to be the shadow of the trapped bin lorry.
The driver can later be seen returning, having received a parking fine, at 9.24am. However, they are not shown back inside the car until a little after 10am.
The E10 area stretches from Leyton Marshes to Hollow Pond and down to the A12, including parts of both Waltham Forest and neighbouring Redbridge.
