MORE than 20 residents had to be moved into emergency housing after heavy rain and flooding cut off power to a block of flats.
Waltham Forest Council has been working with London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, Thames Water and health partners after yesterdays deluge.
Last night the council housed 28 residents in emergency accommodation after a block in Walthamstow lost power supply due to flooding.
Council bosses say Thames Water has confirmed there are no water contamination issues in the borough. The council’s highway officers team attended 22 blocked roads last night and are out today across the borough trying to ensure roads are clear.
The council also has extra street cleansing teams out throughout the day prioritising the main roads as the flooding has left significant debris across the borough.
