Three performers, past and present, with roots in the area will all come together in a fascinating play to be staged later this month.
Redbridge-born actor Lottie Walker is set to take to the stage at Leyton Great Hall in the play Marie Lloyd Stole My Life on Sunday, September 26.
Lottie trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School and has since started in numerous plays across the country. In her latest project she takes on the role of Islington-born entertainer Nelly Power.
Nelly Power was a male impersonator and headliner at all the major theatres of her day. The melodrama that was her life was played out under the eye of the press until she was finally usurped by the next teenage sensation - Marie Lloyd.
Ms Walker said: “I can’t wait to visit this lovely historic venue.Marie lived in the neighbouring borough of Hackney and Nelly is buried there. As I’m originally from the other side of the tracks in Redbridge, it will feel like the three of us will be meeting in the middle.”
Marie Lloyd Stole My Life is held at Leyton Great Hall at 4pm on September 26. Further information is at the Blue Fire Theatre website.
