A MAN was killed in a road accident last night.
The 50-year-old pedestrian, who has not yet been named, died after being hit by a car in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton.
Police were called around 7.40pm to reports of the accident, on the junction with Seymour Road.
A huge team of medics from London Ambulance Service were also sent to Lea Bridge Road, including two ambulances, two fast response cars, a senior medical officer and the HEMS air ambulance team.
But the man was pronounced dead at the scene, suffering from serious head injuries.
An ambulance spokeswoman said that nobody else was treated as a result of the crash.
Roads were closed in the area and re-opened at 11.30pm.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident, which will be investigated by specialist traffic police from Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage.
Officers say they are still awaiting formal identification.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We await to inform next of kin and a post mortem will take place in due course at Walthamstow Mortuary."
The driver stopped at the scene but nobody was arrested after the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the witness appeal line on 8597 4874.
