Above is a view of Albert Crescent taken after its recent construction in the late 1930s.
Some shops still lay empty ready for occupation.
The parade opposite in Old Church Road has replaced the houses that once stood along the road up to Church Hill.
This whole area around the crescent was transformed within five years to create a shopping centre that still survives today.
