An eight-man gang armed with machetes broke into a family home in Walthamstow and injured two of the occupants.
The men targeted a residential property in Brookscroft Road and threatened four people inside demanding they hand over their valuables.
The occupants fought back, causing the gang to leave empty handed, but two victims suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
Following the attack at around 5am on Thursday, April 1, the Met Police have today (November 3) issued images of men they want to speak to.
As part of the investigation police became aware of another aggravated burglary at a nightclub in Clacton-on-Sea in Essex on the same night.
Following a review officers have decided that the Met would investigate both aggravated burglaries.
PC David Havard, from the burglary and robbery team in Waltham Forest, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the family involved and we are committed to tracking down those who carried out this awful crime."
He added police have released images of men who they want to speak to and asked anyone who recognises them to contact police immediately.
Information can be reported via non-emergency number 101 quoting CAD 1062/01Apr.
