A PATIENT who was rushed to hospital just days before his wedding held the ceremony in hospital instead.
James Morgan and Alice O’Neill were enthusiastic about getting married on October 19 after having met in June this year, but the whirlwind romance was put on pause after Mr Morgan was taken to Queen’s Hospital nine days before the planned event.
The wedding was set to take place at Langtons in Hornchurch, but Mr Morgan’s complex respiratory history, including asthma, and obstructive pulmonary disease required him to be hospitalised.
The now Mrs Morgan said: “We always knew we wanted to get married quickly and when James was admitted to hospital, we knew it wouldn’t be possible to get to Langtons.”
Instead, the couple signed the wedding documents at the Bluebell A ward, with a registrar from Langtons performing the ceremony on October 20.
Mrs Morgan said: “It was a wonderful end to our fairy tale.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Queen’s Hospital and Langtons for making everything happen so quickly.”
The two, who agreed to marry on their second date, are pictured sharing their first kiss as husband and wife.
