Woodford husband and wife duo have been reunited at a care home after been separated for four months.
The couple sweethearts met at their local badminton club in 1967, the two got engaged just ten days of meeting and had rarely been apart since.
Gemma Smith, 77, was taken ill and admitted to hospital in July, her husband Ronald Smith, 80, stayed in a care home in Kent during her stay.
Fortunately, Gemma was discharged from hospital in October. The happy couple then decided to move back to Woodford Green- an area which they have lived in for 43 years.
In a joyous reunion, the couple were delighted to reside with each other again.
Commenting on the move, Ronald said: “While it was lovely making new friends at my old care home, I missed Gemma very much and couldn’t wait to be by her side again.”
Gemma added: “Ron has always been a romantic. We fancied each other from the day we met. He took me to the pictures and a car show on our first date. From then on, I knew he was one of a kind. I’m so thrilled to be with him again at our new home.”
