Chingford Cricket Club are bidding for a cash boost from Tesco to help young people entitled to free school meals get free cricket training.
Tesco works with community charity Groundwork to run its community grants scheme, in which grants of up to £1,500, £1,000 and £500 are awarded to local community projects.
Three groups in every community have been shortlisted to receive the cash award and shoppers are invited to vote at Tesco stores for the groups they think should take away the top grant.
Chingford Cricket Club is one of the groups on the shortlist. The grant would be used to fund free cricket training for U18's entitled to free school meals and ECB coach education courses for young players up to age 21 entitled to Income Support or Universal Credit.
Voting runs in all Tesco stores in January, February and March.
Tesco’s Community Grants scheme has already provided over £90 million to more than 40,000 projects across Britain.
