Pictured above is a quiet Simmons Lane at the junction with Friday Hill, Chingford, in 1935.
In the distance can be seen Friday Hill House, built in 1839 for Robert Boothby Heathcote, who was both the lord of the manor and rector of SS Peter & Paul Church.
The Heathcotes lived in the 19th century house until the death of Louisa Heathcote in 1940, whereupon the estate was sold for housing.
The house is now in private hands.
