LIBERAL Democrat Winnie Smith is deputy registrar at Barking Register Office.
"As the only candidate who lives in Leyton ward, I share the same concerns as my neighbours about crime, fly tipping and the closure of local post offices.
"I have been a community activist and member of the Leyton FOCUS team for a number of years. I enjoy getting out into my ward, talking with residents and doing my best to support people.
"I worked as a housing officer in Waltham Forest for 12 years, and one of my main priorities will be to address the problems with accommodation that cause such worry for many of my fellow residents.
"I share residents' concerns about the problems associated with youth crime and I am keen to continue the excellent work that my Liberal Democrat colleague and former Leyton councillor Barry Smith began for young people through the Defendin' Da Hood initiative.
"I am a Leyton voice working for Leyton residents."
